Not particularly the BEST photo of it, but this was my final project in Wearable Art, a class I took at school recently. It is a semi-cybergoth look that was inspired by the Ancient Irish Goddess, the Morrigan, who is a deitiy of war and sexuality.
You can't really see it in the picture, but I'm wearing red and blue makeup (the blue looking like woad) and I have burgundy and blue 'dreadlock' hair extensions in my hair.
I made and modelled it. I did get to keep it, since it was for a class at school.
The fabrics were knits of some sort. My teacher asked me what sort of thing I wanted, and I told her. She got the fabrics for us. One is just black, the other is a gunmetal-colored pleather-type fabric.

No offense taken! That was part of the point of the outfit, the balance between sexuality and death.
Sewing isn't really that hard, though I had a little help from my teacher. Looking at patterns in books, and the way the seams work in your own clothing will help. An example here is that the skit in the photo was based shapewise off of a skirt I had at the time, so I could look at the one I owned for ideas on how to do the one for the outfit.

Which is good, considering the whole Morrigan theme... And I was just being cautiously polite because some people get offended when someone of the same gender calls them sexy. I've learned to be cautions.
Yeah, some of the simpler things I can do, and I've just figured out how to do boning and stuff for a corset I made, but the more complicated stuff is currently beyond me, and the fact that I don't have a sewing machine and have to do it all by hand makes it very slow going.

Sewing clothing by hand is yeah, really slow going. The Pillow Golem in my gallery is all done by hand; it took the better part of a week to finish. (The sewing machine at camp was broken, and the costume had to be done by a certain date)
Embroidery by hand seems to take significantly less time, though I suppose that's because of the style I do.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
